New Age Truth of Missouri, Inc. is cognizant of the fact that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders. It is necessary, therefore, to mold our youth into competent, useful citizens who will be inspired to make constructive contributions to their communities, their state, the nation and the world. We recognize also that pressures on many of today’s youth are such that they lack exposure to sufficient guidance and direction in order to make constructive choices regarding their own lives and be motivated to consider the possibilities of their future. Therefore, we provide a constructive activity outlet through our Youth Improvement Club (YIC) for young men and women ages 7 to 18 years old who seek to improve and to learn what it takes to live up to their potential.
YIC’s mission and purpose is to enhance the quality and character of participating youth through:
- SELF EDUCATION: Learn about one’s self through character building activities, projects and games that promote cooperation, unity, harmony, care and concern for others, sportsmanship and objective critical thinking;
- HISTORY: Build social awareness by exposure to constructive and inspirational historical information and facts through field trips, guest speakers, films (documentaries and movies);
- CURRENT EVENTS: Learn how events of the day affect individuals and how the choices of individuals affect their community and society through review of newspapers and news show presentations, field trips, sporting events; holiday events;
- SCHOLARSHIP: Encourage improvement scholastic skills such as math, reading, writing, science, health through youth forums, tutorials, scholastic contests, educational games, and approved books, videos and audio tapes.
- PHYSICAL FITNESS: Engage in fun and constructive recreational activities that promote healthy physical development such as volleyball, basketball, kickball, skating, swimming, etc.
- RESPONSIBILITY: YIC participants conduct and participate in fundraisers that raise money to help sponsor YIC projects, achievement awards and recreational activities.
Youth meet and participate in these planned and Board approved activities on a monthly basis and are in contact with YIC advisors on a bi-weekly basis. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and to assist with all planned activities.
Participation in YIC is determined by completion of written application and parent approval.
